A team translation project in translation and proofreading implemented as part of the CAT tools classes for the international organisation Cochrane by Jagiellonian University students. The project was initiated through the Jagiellonian University Medical College and is carried out in collaboration with Cochrane Poland and Phrase, which provides a translation and localisation project management tool.
Cochrane is an independent not-for-profit organisation which aims to support, among others, medical staff, patients, carers and researchers by, among others, producing and summarising scientific research results.
The overall aim of the project requires (as part of the CAT Tools classes) from the students of the English into Polish the abstracts of scientific publications using Phrase software. The project also provides an opportunity to develop teamwork skills in a created work environment by fullfilling roles of Editor, Translator, Project or/and Manager. The project not only gives students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in working with a real client, but also allows them to carry out important activities for the benefit of society.
This was the fifth edition of the project, which took place in May 2023.
