Final project for the Localization classes of the Translation Studies at the Jagiellonian University in the summer semester 2022/2023. Students had several options to choose from, including translating an excerpt from a game, a film or an application. Each student had to prepare a presentation describing the process, difficulties and conclusions. One of the requirements was to use the CAT tool of their choice for the translation.
Subject and conclusions
I knew from the beginning that I would choose game localisation as the topic for my final project, because I had wanted to prove myself in translating this type of content for a long time. I really enjoy playing computer games and, above all, I am a big fan of Stardew Valley, which is perhaps why producing the translation gave me such a satisfaction. Moreover, an interesting element in the process was the necessary interference with the source code, the steps of which I described in the presentation (link below).
To sum up, I localised only a small part of the game, hence I would be happy to undertake the localisation of a more extensive project.
